During my community rotation I was able to teach throughout the community. My main teaching opportunity came when I taught at a 7th grade health fair. I also was able to teach WIC clients throughout my time, and had the opportunity to help teach the community about EFNEP/SNAP-Ed.
7th Grade Health FairI was chosen to represent the county health department at a health fair put on for 7th graders. I presented to the entire 7th grade class who were split into 6 groups that rotated through classes. I taught about portion sizes and making healthy choices. I also taught them how to read food labels. You can find a write-up of the project here. The pictures above were taken at this event.

Other OpportunitiesI have had multiple teaching opportunities throughout my community rotation. During my day with EFNEP/SNAP-Ed I helped teach the community who attended a health fair about EFNEP/SNAP-Ed. During this day, I was able to teach knife and cutting skills to the educators. I was also able to help prepare the samples and explain to the public how we used tarragon in the recipe.
