My community rotation gave me the chance to see multiple community programs. I spent the majority of my time at the three WIC locations throughout the county. I also was able to do some community teaching. I spent time with multiple other programs as well, following them for half a day or a whole day to learn what they do. I was also able to complete a community needs assessment paper while at this rotation.
I spent the majority of my time at WIC. I spent time shadowing educators and dietitians, and then doing staff relief for both. I was able to learn about the multiple breast pumps they provide. I was also able to work with two IBCLCs and learn more about breastfeeding.

I was able to participate in a health fair at a local middle school. The health fair was for 7th graders, and was meant to introduce the kids to different professions as well as learn healthy information. I also was able to do other teaching throughout the community

I was able to see what other community programs do. I did a home visit with county nurses. I did some restaurant inspections with one of the county inspectors. I spent a day learning about the EFNEP/SNAP-Ed program. I was also able to spend time with the county epidemiologist learning more about the community.
